Late Fall Wedding at Four Seasons Austin
Our KH Collective video team had the privilege of documenting Abby & Harrison’s story during their late-October wedding weekend in the Texas hill country.
Barbara Shorts of Verve Events planned and executed this stunning wedding, and it truly felt like a dream from start to finish!
The garden party-inspired design for the celebration was largely based around our sweet bride’s dress, and Abby intentionally went “heavy on the flowers and pink, wanting the cocktail hour to feel like a garden party as well.”
When we asked about her favorite details, this is what she had to say: “I loved that we used Schumacher wallpaper on two of the bars. It was very elegant, feminine, and overall different that what I’ve seen at other weddings. I thought that it looked great with the bars and pink trees from Party! Dallas. I’d originally wanted chinoiserie to be present throughout the whole wedding, but we pivoted halfway through planning. I’m so happy we were able to incorporate a type of chinoiserie into the decor! I also loved the escort wall where guests could find their seats on white butterflies. I’ve always loved butterflies (they’re even on the china that we registered for), and thought it worked well with the garden party type of vibe we were going for. I loved the afterparty space as well. With much of the wedding being heavy on pink, this was a beautiful contrast that played into Harrison’s style and favorite colors. We modeled it after our favorite bar/restaurant in Fairhope, Alabama at The Grand Hotel called Bucky’s.”
And we couldn’t get enough of our couple’s wedding day fashion! “My wedding dress had been a challenge up until the week before the wedding but it was completely worth it for the perfect fit and hand painted details. Barbara and I based many design decisions around my dress. My dress had an extra long overskirt for the ceremony and pictures, and we paired it with a fairly simple cathedral length veil. My shoes for the ceremony were a vintage-looking Jimmy Choo heel with a pearl accent. My earrings and bracelet were custom made – pink sapphires and white diamonds in a chandelier style earring, and a fun linked bracelet. I later changed in to a short Vivienne Westwood dress with a scoop neck, a Vivienne Westwood pearl choker, and a different pair of Jimmy Choo kitten heels. Harrison and his groomsmen rented their tuxes from Black Tux. He picked out a black, brown, and white feather bowtie for his ensemble. Harrison also wore monogrammed suspenders (this was also a gift for his groomsmen), and custom alligator boots from Heritage Boots in Austin. The boot pulls have both of our initials and our wedding date on it. He later added his Kemosabe cowboy hat for the reception.”
This wedding was a ton of fun and we are so thankful that the new Mr. & Mrs. Armstrong trusted us with both their photos AND their wedding video. There is really something so special about having both to look back on and share with your future generations!
